These two giant culverts (and the smaller one on the left) evacuate surface water of the East Blackstone River across the Dempster highway corridor. They have a large capacity to safely handle very high flows.

In early May 2021, these two culverts (and the small one on the left) were almost entirely blocked by a river icing accumulation. This situation is not ideal for a transportation infrastructure as the snowpack starts to melt.
