If you are a researcher in the fields of Science and Technology, you probably heard about Arxiv.org, an open access repository for millions of e-prints in the areas of mathematics, computer science, physics, quantitative biology and statistics. It is a great resource because it makes possible to obtain access to recent studies even before they get to be officially published in a scientific journal.

A recent initiative is now bringing to life another version of this project: SocArxiv. Focused on arts and humanities, education, law, and social & behavioural sciences, SocArxiv was born from a partnership between the University of Maryland and the non-profit Center for Open Science. The main intention of the project is to develop a free, open access, and open archive for social science research. The official result of this initiative became public in December 2016 and currently hosts just under 1,000 pre-print articles. Hopefully the project will attract more sponsors and submissions in the future. It would be great to see research in social sciences and humanities more open and accessible to all.
