YukonU Student Sarah Newton obtained travel support from SAG to attend the Arctic Circle Assembly in Reykjavik, Iceland, October 17-20, 2024. At the Assembly, Sarah will 1) present her research project into geothermal heating potential in the Whitehorse area and receive group brainstorming feedback on how to improve the scientific communication and the potential to apply for additional funding, 2) attend sessions on sustainability energy and Indigenous rights to better integrate this research with contemporary Arctic issues, and 3) network with other students, scholars, and interested conference attendees. More details on the project she is representing can be found under a previous SAG allocation here.
