Chemistry
Chemistry is often referred to as the “central science” because it plays a key role in almost every aspect of our lives as well as in life itself. Whether you have an interest in solving environmental problems, creating new materials, developing alternative energy sources, or just want to know enough to avoid the latest internet health scam, a basic understanding of chemistry will help.
The university-level chemistry courses we offer at Yukon University include two terms of first year chemistry and two terms of second year Organic Chemistry. While these courses at larger Universities can have several hundred students enrolled, our chemistry courses typically have fewer than 30 students. You get the same general content but with more opportunity for one-on-one support from you friendly neighbourhood chemistry prof. More information about these courses can be found on the “Courses” page.
Lab Visits
Are you a school teacher, or a leader/organizer for some other youth organization (Beavers/Scouts/Girl Guides/Pathfinders/etc) looking for some chemistry-related activities for your class or group? I’m always happy to host lab visits for groups of students. These can include hands-on activities and/or demonstrations in the lab. If you’re interested in getting your students/group into the lab, send me an email and let’s see what we can do!
