Amanda Graham was the first graduate of Yukon College's Northern Studies Diploma. She embarked on a Masters in Northern History at Lakehead in 1991. In 1992, while still working on her thesis, she joined Yukon College as the second managing editor of The Northern Review, the first Canadian multidisciplinary journal of the arts and social sciences of the North published north of 60. She served as Chair of Social Sciences and Humanities for two terms between 1994 and 1998. She became a senior editor of the Review in 2002. Yukon College is a member of the Association of Canadian Universities for Northern Studies and of the University of the Arctic.
Graham acts as the college representative to both organizations. She was the instructor of the pilot UArctic online Introduction to the Circumpolar World course in 2001 and has taught the course almost yearly since then. She is a member of the Yukon College Research Ethics Board, a co-host of the school-year ResearChats, with Dr. Ernie Prokopchuk. She is currently a part-time PhD student in Canadian Studies at Trent University, Peterborough, ON. She teaches Northern Studies and History and reads a lot in her spare time.
